The Autism in Entertainment 2024 Conference was a pivotal one-day, in-person event held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Skirball Cultural Center. Its core purpose was to bridge the gap between the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) community and the entertainment industry, empowering individuals with ASD to showcase their talent and creativity, and helping them find meaningful employment opportunities within the sector.

The conference brought together industry leaders and advocates, providing a crucial platform for individuals with ASD. It also offered insights for employers on the abilities of adults with ASD and effective, supportive hiring techniques. Attendees with ASD had the opportunity to learn about neurodiversity-seeking employers, job enablers, and educational programs geared towards entertainment careers. The event featured a diverse array of speakers, general sessions, talent talks, and breakout sessions that covered topics such as employment options in animation, acting, film, TV, and gaming, alongside discussions on neurodiversity programs in large companies. The entire conference was recorded, with photos and videos available online. It was organized by the Autism In Entertainment Working Group, led by the Orange County Asperger's Support Group, with support from Zavikon and funding from a Department of Developmental Services (DDS) Grant.

Island Pitch's JdA attended this gathering, expressing a deep personal connection to the entertainment industry and how his late autism diagnosis fueled his commitment to creating a safe and inclusive space for creative technologists through Island Pitch. Island Pitch actively participates in the Autism in Entertainment Conference to highlight its inclusivity efforts and services, which are tailored to making entertainment more accessible for individuals with autism. This involvement underscores Island Pitch's dedication to diversity and inclusion in both technology and media, and its goal of fostering meaningful partnerships within the entertainment industry.
