The Augmented World Expo (AWE) 2025 took place in Long Beach, CA at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. It is described as the world's largest spatial computing event. The expo featured over 300 exhibitors and more than 500 speakers across a massive 150,000 square feet expo floor. The event's motto was "You'll Feel Spatial. We Promise.".
AWE 2025 showcased cutting-edge advancements in augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and spatial computing. It highlighted how AR is transforming various industries and daily life through enterprise solutions and creative campaigns. JdA from Island Pitch attended the event, volunteering by holding a sign for Caitlin Krause, and visiting the Niantic Spatial area, which focused on blending digital content with the physical environment. Beyond the technology, AWE 2025 also included a mindfulness walk, emphasizing the power of presence amidst innovation, and highlighting that neurodivergence is a superpower, and joy, wonder, and balance belong in the mainstream.
The event began with a setup day, described as the "calm before XR goes full mainstream," involving lifts, light rigs, and volunteer training. Attendees were welcomed to the "spatial side" for a professionally "weird" experience. The event included "EXPOloration," a way of sharing "bite-sized peeks into the future of tech, creativity, and... mixed reality magic". Participants wore Snap Spectacles to capture "surprise POVs, live thoughts, and booth cameos". Beyond the immersive technology, AWE 2025 also featured a mindfulness walk, emphasizing the power of presence amidst innovation. This walk served as a "phygital" reminder that imagination needs "breath," neurodivergence is a "superpower," and "joy, wonder, and balance belong in the mainstream".
