We are Hollywood! Autism In Entertainment at Skirball Cultural Center is TODAY.
It is LITERALLY difficult for me to describe the feelings. I have on my way to the event today. I got into entertainment, because I always felt like more of the show than the audience. This serves me well because the nature of my work is at the intersection of technology and storytelling.
My career spanned more than two decades of challenges and rewards within Media & Entertainment before my late diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum helped inspire me to not only continue to grow and learn but to share with others and improve the experience for those who come after me in our industry.
2 years ago, I founded @island.pitch in order to create a safe space for an inclusive spectrum of Creative Technologists and Solution Architects to work on creative & challenging projects. We help brands of all sizes innovate by improving their technology to a modern baseline then “Reach their Pitch” with research, design and prototyping their new products or operational efficiencies. We are proud to be working with @zavikonllc as a core part of our growth strategy seeking to build a diverse team with a culture of mutual support and understanding among our Crew Members from our earliest days.
In short, Do Cool Things the Right Way!®
(I even trademarked my long-running motto of my own I kept on a sticky!)

Description
"We are Hollywood!" This powerful statement sets the stage for "Autism in Entertainment," a truly unique gathering of individuals on the autism spectrum who work, and aspire to work, in the entertainment industry. It's a space for celebration and support, and Jonathan de Armas (JdA), founder of Island Pitch, was on his way to experience it firsthand.
For JdA, describing the feelings as he headed to the event was a challenge in itself. He finds himself at home in entertainment, having always felt "more of the show than the audience." This perspective has served him well, as his work naturally sits at the intersection of technology and storytelling. His career in "entertainment technology" spans more than two decades of challenges and rewards, all before his late diagnosis on the autism spectrum. That knowledge has allowed him to interact better and has unlocked a wellspring of creativity he once let go quiet. His diagnosis inspired him not only to continue growing and learning but also to share with others and improve the experience for those who follow in their footsteps within the industry.
This deeply personal connection to neurodiversity is at the heart of Island Pitch. In 2022, JdA founded Island Pitch to create a safe space for an inclusive spectrum of creative technologists and solution architects to work on creative and challenging projects. Island Pitch is here to help brands of all sizes innovate by improving their technology to a modern baseline, then helping them "reach their pitch" with research, design, and prototyping their future, today. JdA is proud to be building a diverse crew and fostering a culture of mutual support and understanding among team members from the earliest days.
Island Pitch actively participates in the Autism in Entertainment Conference, highlighting its inclusivity efforts and services tailored to making entertainment more accessible for individuals with autism. This commitment showcases Island Pitch’s dedication to diversity and inclusion in both technology and media, and its objective to foster meaningful partnerships in the entertainment industry.
In short, we're all about doing cool things the right way!® Get in touch and let's reach your pitch, creating innovative and inclusive solutions together.
