Reflecting on a recent gathering at @yamashirola, where @thecubanjon had the pleasure of connecting with industry peers and graduates from the @rutgerscomminfo (Rutgers University School of Communication and Information) Digital Asset Management Certificate program.

I’m reminded of the journey that brought me here.

I’ve been immersed in the world of DAM since the late 1990s when I built automation from TWAIN scanners into a shared network server with metadata in a Visual Fox Pro database. I found myself listed as co-inventor on our patent for Fox Media Cloud named “Global Digital Asset Management” during my time at @20thcenturystudios, then Fox. This was even BEFORE earning a Bronze Certificate from Rutgers School of Communication in the 2nd cohort of the program during the height of COVID in 2020. Now I offer my services via my own @island.pitch Crew.

It’s been a humbling journey filled with continuous learning and growth. Innovation and education central to my journey.

As @nabshow approaches, I’m excited to share insights, exchange ideas, and explore new possibilities in media and entertainment. Whether you’re a seasoned professional or new to the industry, I’m here to lend a helping hand and navigate the complexities of DAM together.

Description

Reflecting on a recent gathering at Yamashiro, perched high above the city with views spanning from Downtown LA to Long Beach, Island Pitch founder Jonathan de Armas (JdA) took a moment to connect with industry peers and graduates from the Rutgers University School of Communication and Information's Digital Asset Management (DAM) Certificate program. This wasn't just a dinner; it was a journey, and JdA couldn't help but reflect on the winding road that brought him to this point.

JdA's immersion in the world of DAM dates back to the late 1990s. He built automation from TWAIN scanners into a shared network server with metadata in a Visual Fox Pro database. This extensive experience led him to be listed as a co-inventor on the patent for Fox Media Cloud, named "Global Digital Asset Management," during his time at 20th Century Studios (then Fox). This significant achievement came even before he earned a Bronze Certificate from Rutgers School of Communication in the second cohort of their DAM program during the height of COVID in 2020. Now, he brings this wealth of experience to Island Pitch, offering specialized Digital Asset Management (DAM) Consulting services.

For JdA, every step has shaped his story, much like managing digital assets where each piece contributes to the bigger picture. It's been a humbling journey filled with continuous learning and growth, emphasizing that innovation and education are central to his path.

As major industry events like NAB Show approach, JdA is excited to share insights, exchange ideas, and explore new possibilities in media and entertainment. Whether you're a seasoned professional or new to the industry, he's ready to lend a helping hand and navigate the complexities of Digital Asset Management together. After all, the view from the top is pretty sweet, especially when you've got your assets in order!

At Island Pitch, we specialize in organizing, managing, and optimizing digital assets, ensuring easy access, retrieval, and strategic use of media files for marketing, content creation, and branding. Our crew is here to help you "Do Cool Things the Right Way!®" by transforming your digital chaos into clarity.
